VW 4 cyl Shortened Oil Pan
After lowering your car you may have dropped the jack and realized how close your oil pan is to the ground. No worries, this shortened oil pan kit is everything you need to gain over an inch of clearance. This is the “Cry once, Buy once” solution for you lowlifes out there.
What it is
This replaces your factory oil pan and pick up tube to gain 28mm (1.1”) of ground clearance so that you can make it to that show or just cruise with a little peace of mind. The pan is sectioned and a 3/16” plate is welded by Matt Rad of Rad Welds (Pottstown, PA). Baffles and trap doors are added to keep oil starvation at bay during spirited driving and the pan is finished in your choice of either Prismatic Universe, or semi gloss black powder coat by Chris AKA The Powder Slayer over at Oven Fresh Coatings (Montague, NJ).
What it is made of
Laser cut 3/16” Steel plate is welded onto a new pan and baffles with trap doors are added. The pick up tube is 3D printed 316 stainless to accommodate the shorter pan and make this truly a bolt on affair.
What is included with this purchase
Shortened and baffled oil pan
Stainless Steel Pick Up Tube w/ fresh O-ring
(20) M6×16 Hardware
Other things you should know
Replaces VW P/N 051-103-601.
this kit DOES NOT fit 1979 or older engines due to the oil pump not having a bolt on pick up tube.
This kit DOES NOT include an oil pan gasket. The oil pan gasket is P/N 044-103-609D . The oil pan gasket with integrated baffle (P/N 037-115-220B) will fit if you choose to run that.
With the shortened pan, there is a ~0.75L reduction in capacity. The baffles are in place to reduce any ill effects of this but if oil quantity is still a concern, you can run a diesel oil filter (P/N 068-115-561/B/BQ) and/or an external oil cooler to increase capacity.
