VW Crank Breather
Feeling the (crank case) pressure?
What it is
This is a crank breather that could not be manufactured without 3D printing due to the integrated baffling. This crank vent offers a high outlet with walls and baffles to avoid filling the catch can with large volumes of oil in heavy g-load scenarios.
There are -10 AN threads for an O-ring bound (ORB) fitting and a male fitting included.
There are two versions of crank vents on these earlier VW engines, a later long block version that is plastic with an O-ring seal and a slightly different profiled short early block version. The easiest way to identify which version you have is to look at the material that the factory installed PCV piece you plan to replace is made out of.
What it is made of
This is a Nylon (PA12) 3D printed part with metal torque limiters just like the later OE crank vent. The PA12 material is rated to 173°c (343°f)
What is included with this purchase
Nylon Crank Breather
Replacement gasket
-10AN ORB fitting
Stainless steel hardware
Freeze Plug
Other things you should know
When removing the factory piece, there will be a hole in the block that will not be utilized. This hole is to be filled with the provided freeze plug.
